Frequently asked questions
What does password entropy mean?
Entropy measures guessing difficulty: bits = length × log2(pool size). A 16-character password drawn from all 94 printable classes has about 104.9 bits — far beyond practical brute force.
Why exclude ambiguous characters?
0 vs O and 1 vs l or I look identical in many fonts. Excluding them avoids transcription errors when a password must be read or typed by hand, at the cost of slightly less entropy.
Is my password sent to a server?
No. Generation happens entirely in your browser via the Web Crypto API — there are no network requests involved and nothing is stored.
Is Password Generator free?
Password Generator is completely free — open the page and use every feature with no hidden charges.
