Frequently asked questions

Which color formats does it show?

Each picked color is shown as HEX and RGB. The Settings panel lets you choose a default copy format and toggle the contrast checker.

Is my image uploaded to a server?

No — sampling happens on a canvas in your browser, so the image never leaves your device. Pick history and settings persist in localStorage.

How does it guess the color name?

The sampled RGB value is matched to the nearest entry in a built-in color-name table — useful for writing specs, though the name is approximate rather than an official standard.

Is Color Picker free?

Color Picker is completely free — open the page and use every feature with no hidden charges.

Do I need to download or install Color Picker?

No download or installation is needed. It is an online tool that runs in the browser on your phone, tablet and computer.

Do I need an account to use Color Picker?

No. Use the tool right away — no account or sign-in required.

Does Color Picker work on mobile?

Yes. The page is fully responsive and works on phones, tablets and desktop browsers.
